April Educational Series Topic

Individual Education Plans in the Public Schools, An Overview

Inclusive Education begins with the IEP.  The National Down Syndrome Society is the leading human rights organization for all individuals with Down syndrome.  April Kuss, Senior Advisor with National Down Syndrome Society, will join us to present her story and provide us with resources and information on the IEP including the "why" of inclusive education, how federal law supports inclusive education and how DSAF can help support families in implementing the IEP.

About the Speaker:

Jessica Kuss is a Senior Advisor for the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS), where she provides guidance and expertise for a variety of NDSS programs and peer-to-peer fundraising events. Since 2017, Jessica has supported participants and sponsors for the Racing for 3.21 for World Down Syndrome Day virtual event, Run for 3.21 relay and various marathons and other running and endurance events. She also assists in developing resources and programs focused on health, wellness and education, and participates in community outreach as it relates to these topics.
