Congratulations on the newest addition to your family! The Down Syndrome Association for Families
is committed to providing accurate information, community resources, and support along your
journey. This diagnosis might come as a surprise to you. Each parent's emotional experience is unique, and it is normal to feel uncertain about your baby's life.

DSAF offers information about early intervention, breastfeeding, and shared experiences from other local families. We will help you establish meaningful connections to other local parents by connecting you with those with similar values and family life. Our First-Call Parents are trained to listen to your concerns, offer judgment-free support, and allow you time and space to work through feelings and emotions related to this life-changing experience. Our services are free, and you can remain anonymous. The parents taking your call have been in your shoes. They offer real-life experience and can act as a guide during this uncertain time. They understand the needs of parents in this situation, have dedicated time to training to serve this community, and are eager to help.

Parent and family connections have been a helpful tool to provide insight into the lives of others
who are a little further into their journey. Whether you are a first-time parent or a seasoned expert
with a large family, there are parents waiting to be connected to offer insight for those with a new diagnosis.

Torri Attebury, Medical Outreach and New Parent Coordinator, can be contacted by email medicaloutreach@dsafnebraska.org, or calling at (402) 770-9826.  We encourage you to join our closed Facebook group, Down Syndrome Association for Families (DSAF) of Nebraska. This group is a safe place to ask questions, find resources, and connect with other local families who also have a child with Down syndrome.

Subscribe to our newsletters and email blasts to be a part of our community and become a member to get involved (it's free!). We hope you'll join us!
